Mrs. Anderson's Honors Geometry

Welcome to honors geometry!  Please take a moment and enter a comment here, introducing yourself.  Where did you take algebra 1; do you think geometry will be similar to/different from algebra; do you think you’ll like algebra or geometry better?  For extra credit, add another comment which is responding to something another student wrote.  Check your powerschool account to see the points entered for this (and all future) blog assignments.

Why do you think we study constructions?  How could they possibly help you in geometry or elsewhere?

I am hoping you’ll have time to do the first 2 parts of the chapter 8 project during class, as you should be finishing the classwork before the rest of the class during some of these lessons.  The question about the area of the egg is the toughest – you’ll need to be able to find the area of a sector, which we’ll cover in section 8.2.  Extra credit to the first person who posts a reply here…

When you’ve decided on a subject for your golden ratio object, post a comment here with a brief description.  The purpose of this is to prevent duplicates.  Remember to include a description of the item on a golden-rectangle for the Dielman display case!

If you want a nice tip for the proofs, read the Math Notes in chapter 7 about midsegments (but don’t give it away when we get to it in class!)
